Neuro-Oncology
The Hoag Family Cancer Institute (HFCI) is seeking a Neurological Oncologist to join our longstanding and nationally recognized Neuro-Oncology Program. The HFCI has two primary campuses in Newport Beach and Irvine, CA. This is a unique opportunity to join a clinically active and research-driven neuro-oncology program with a national reputation for excellence. The ideal candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team to develop and grow innovative strategies to ensure the delivery of excellent neuro-oncologic care. The ideal individual is a fellowship-trained neurologic oncologist who will thrive in building rewarding relationships with referring physicians while providing compassionate care, driving clinical excellence, and expanding our research portfolio by collaborating with industry colleagues and academic centers.
Hoag offers a unique multi-modality diagnostic and treatment program for patients suffering from indolent and malignant central nervous system neoplasms. The combined Institute provides a highly integrated and comprehensive care setting, with access to the latest clinical trials and translational research opportunities. Each specific type of tumor is addressed with a personalized and multidisciplinary approach to care. The ideal candidate will work with a cadre of specialists, which includes medical oncologists and hematologists. Along with primary CNS malignancies, the candidate will manage complex brain metastases, leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, and neurological complications of cancer therapy.
Experience, combined with advanced clinical trials and technology, including deep neurosurgical expertise utilizing the most advanced tools available. Many hospitals offer open craniotomy and stereotactic radiosurgery; our clinicians specialize not only in surgical brain tumor management, but Gamma Knife (GK), image-guided focused ultrasound (FUS), and laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT). The ideal candidate will work closely with our neurosurgery colleagues to leverage advanced drug delivery and develop novel early-phase window-of-opportunity studies. This will be accomplished through a close working relationship with the clinical trial office, which will facilitate access to and management of phase 1 through 3 clinical trials. These studies include adoptive cell therapy, vaccines, oncolytic viruses, and other unique immunotherapeutic modalities. The ideal candidate will be expected to expand on the current portfolio of studies at Hoag.
