Position Overview
The Department of Neurology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, located in Columbus, Ohio under the direction of Benjamin Segal, MD, Chair is recruiting a BC/BE, fellowship trained, Neuro-oncologist within the Division of Neuro-oncology. The Division of Neuro-oncology has four faculty members, support from six Advanced Practice Nurses (four outpatient and three inpatient) and a thriving outpatient and inpatient service. The care of patients with brain and spine tumors as well as neurologic complications of cancer is delivered within the James Cancer Hospital, the third largest country in the hospital and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (see details below). Neuro-oncology subspecialties are very strongly represented with Neurosurgery, Radiation Oncology, Neuropathology, Neuroimaging and Neuropsychology/Psychiatry offering a patient care continuum. The Division also boasts a very successful Neuro-oncology fellowship program that has trained candidates continuously since its launch in 2014. Department/Division Overview
The Department of Neurology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) consists of 15 specialized divisions, 63 physicians, 5 psychologists, 12 dedicated research faculty, 24 residents, and 14 fellows. We deliver unparalleled subspecialty care across all neurology disciplines, with services spanning 7 state-of-the-art ambulatory facilities and 3 hospitals. The department operates 27 groundbreaking multidisciplinary and personalized clinics, 3 comprehensive inpatient consultation services, an 18-bed university hospital neurocritical care unit and 12-bed James hospital neuro and surgical critical care unit a 30-bed stroke ward, and an expanding teleneurology service partnering with 7 regional hospitals. Our telestroke network is among the largest in the nation, encompassing 32 affiliated hospitals. Opening in Spring of 2026, the new inpatient tower will include an expansion of the university hospital neurocritical care unit capacity to a 30-bed, state-of-the-art, neurocritical care unit. With over $15.5 million in annual research funding, OSU Neurology is at the forefront of discovering new biomarkers and therapeutic targets for neurological disorders. Our fundamental research portfolio focuses on neurogenetics, neuroimmunology and neuroregenerative medicine. Our pioneering Division of Neurology Health Services Research and Center for the Neurobiology of Aging and Resilience are trailblazers in the field. This year alone, our faculty conducted over 320 clinical trials and studies, supported by a cutting-edge biorepository and brain bank. We're equally committed to education, offering 10 prestigious clinical fellowships and international training opportunities through the OSU Global Neurology Initiative, with partner programs in Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. In 2024, our Neurology Residency Program was ranked in the top 15th percentile nationwide on the Doximity Residency Navigator list. Duties and Responsibilities.
- Serves as preceptor and provides bedside training of residents, fellows, medical students, undergraduate and graduate students, nursing staff, and other allied health medical professionals.
- Outpatient Clinic care for patients with brain and spine tumors.
- Inpatient care of neuro-oncology inpatients and consults.

These faculty will have earned a doctor of medicine (MD), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care.?
Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research.?
