The Neuro-Oncology Division in the Department of Neurology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a new faculty member (Assistant or Associate Professor) on either the clinical-educator or tenure-earning track. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in neuro-oncology, as well as a desire to contribute to our research or educational missions.
The incumbent will be appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Neuro-Oncology Division, Department of Neurology at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. The incumbent will provide care for the inpatient and outpatient services at UMH, UMHC, and Neurology clinics at UMHC and Satellite locations. The primary clinical focus will be in the treatment of primary and metastatic brain tumors, and the incumbent will also be expected to see some patients with neurologic complications from their malignancy (leukemic or lymphomatous meningitis, hyperviscosity syndrome, peripheral neuropathies, etc.). Research effort will be devoted to the development of novel clinical protocols, the conduct of clinical research and the conduct or facilitation of translational research. The incumbent will also be expected to provide teaching to students, residents, and fellows in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
Treatment and prevention of neurological diseases, specializing the treatment of primary and metastatic brain tumors
Follow patients with neurological diseases and brain tumor
Active participation in the training program of the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital Neurology Resident Fellowship programs
Attendance at resident and fellowship events and conferences
Training of house staff from the JMH Residency program
Preparation and presentation at teaching conferences
Participation in research programs in metastatic brain tumors and complications arising from the malignancy.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and experience:
Requires an MD degree from a recognized accredited University (or foreign equivalent)
General Neurology Fellowship is preferred
Eligible to acquire a valid Florida Medical License
Board Eligible/Board Certified in Neurology
