Medical Director, USC Brain Tumor Center USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center Division Chief, Neuro-Oncology Departments of Neurology and Neurological Surgery, Keck School of Medicine of USC Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California (KSOM) invites nominations and expressions of interest for the position of Medical Director, USC Brain Tumor Center and Division Chief, Neuro-Oncology. Home to the USC Department of Neurological Surgery and the USC Department of Neurology at KSOM, the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center (USC NCCC), and the KSOM have forged the new architecture of the USC Brain Tumor Center (USC BTC). The vision and aim of the USC BTC is to build upon their success as a leading multidisciplinary destination center for comprehensive brain and central nervous system tumor therapeutics in Southern California and beyond. The USC BTC is poised to be a nationally ranked clinical, academic and educational destination site for patients and medical/surgical trainees, driven by unsurpassed patient outcomes and cutting-edge research. The USC BTC will differentiate itself as a world-class brain tumor center based on multidisciplinary care, clinical volume and experience, state-of-the-art minimally invasive surgical techniques, integrated translational research protocols, and a robust portfolio of clinical trials to provide patients with access to the latest medical therapies. The Division Chief/ Medical Director will be a senior neuro-oncologist responsible for leading and advancing the brain tumor and advanced neuro-oncology therapeutics service line, building multidisciplinary involvement across the KSOM academic medical enterprise, including the world-renowned Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute and the Zilkha Neurogenetic Institute, leading world-class preclinical, translational and clinical research programs, recruiting key clinicians and researchers, training the next generation of clinician-scientists, and acquiring external endorsement and philanthropic support to ensure the continued growth and development of the USC BTC. The Division Chief/Medical Director will develop a strategy to drive and increase major federal (NIH, DARPA, DOD) and foundational funding for neuro-oncology research, a SPORE grant designation, and have a significant presence at all national neuro-oncology and related subspecialty meetings. The USC Brain Tumor Center will be a leading clinical and translational research center for a variety of brain and spinal cord tumors, as well as development of surgical approaches and techniques. The successful candidate will develop a multi-year strategic plan to grow clinical, research, and teaching activities of the division and USC BTC.
